Hi, I’m Elly. I’m 39 and live in Australia. When I was born in 1980 very little was known about Moebius syndrome. My mother was told I would be deaf, blind and of below average intelligence. Thanks to my mother’s tireless efforts and my hard work I proved all those doctors wrong. Don’t get me wrong, it is a challenge at times, especially with the stares I get and people judging me, but I don’t see myself as a victim of this syndrome. If anything I embrace it as it’s a part of me and makes me who I am.
